Meet the team

Purnima Tyagi Director Purnima has completed her PhD (Plant Biotechnology) at the University of Rajasthan, India and Postgraduate Certificate in Research Commercialization and Innovation. She has 15 published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 30 conference and paper presentations to her credit. Her rich experience in college applied research and innovation, project management, scientific research and grant writing will help in her role as the WIMTACH director. Purnima provides consultations and develops projects and partnerships with Centennial faculty, staff, students, and industry and community partners.

Daniel Huizenga Manager Daniel Huizenga is the manager of Social Innovation Research at Centennial College. In that role he develops and supports community-based applied research projects with community partners and faculty members at the college. He has a PhD in Sociolegal studies from York University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

CLTO Influencers CLTO Influencers The CLTO Influencers from Community Living Toronto are a group of self-advocates who are using social media as a platform to raise awareness about disability issues to create a more inclusive society. They are contributing throughout the life of the project.

Viji Angamuthu Professor Vijayalakshmi (Viji) Tiruchengode Angamuthu is a Principal Investigator at WIMTACH and a Professor at Centennial College. She has a Master in Computer Engineering and in Computer Science. At WIMTACH, she is a researcher of machine learning and deep learning algorithms. In her free time, she enjoys walking and video editing.

Lowell Heppner AdapTech Specialist Lowell has been working in the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services (CALCS) at Centennial College since 2013 as an Adaptive Technology Specialist. Before joining Centennial, Lowell worked in Toronto District School Board classrooms, providing education technology support for K-12 students, teachers, and administrators. Lowell studied Philosophy at the University of Toronto with a special interest in the Philosophy of Education. He is passionate about educational technology that is "necessary for some and beneficial for all" to create inclusive classrooms.

Tenzin Jinpa Lead Software Tenzin is a Professor at Centennial College and a Research & Development Lead Software at WIMTACH. He has over four years of combined experience in industry and academia, a proven track record of delivering projects, and has published peer-review papers. He is a graduate from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Science in Computer Science under Dr. Yong Gao. His area of interest is in the application of the Deep Learning models in Software Engineering and Natural Language Processing (NLP). In his free time, he enjoys outdoor games and mountaineering.

Ninghua Zhang Web Developer/Stud. Res. Graduated from the University of Toronto St. George with majors in Statistics, Mathematics, and Physics, Ninghua Zhang is currently pursuing further studies in Software Engineering Technology. At WIMTACH, he has assumed the role of a Web Developer Intern and been responsible for the development of this website. In his free time, he is passionate about football, enjoys watching sports, and plays the violin.

Aidan Hung Student Researcher Aidan is enrolled in the Collaborative Nursing Degree program at Centennial College. As a Student Researcher at WIMTACH, he is responsible for academic literature searches, reviews and analysis. His internship at WIMTACH has enabled him to have collaborative skills and data analytical skills. He is also able to improve his team working and communications skills, as well as his understanding of how to prioritize tasks. In his free time he likes to play video games, read and play badminton.

Matthew Blake Project Management Intern Matthew is a Project Management intern at WIMTACH and he is enrolled in the Project Management Graduate program at Centennial College. At WIMTACH, he is responsible for facilitating scrum in projects, managing and monitoring his team, workflow, communication in projects, scheduling internal and external meetings, and assisting in other project management related tasks such as (schedule creation & taking meeting minutes).
